T O P I C R E V I E WRodinaI'm happy to announce the birth of my first child -- Owen Gabriel -- born August 10. Since everyone else has laid claim to their kids being the first men and women on Mars -- and I don't want to crowd anyone -- I'll just say he'll be the first man on an extraterrestrial object to be named later.Right now, he's sleeping under the happy face of Yuri Gagarin.Rob JoynerHi!Let me be the first to say congratulations on your new son! Considering his Mom's interest in space, I'm sure he'll have a nice headstart on his space-traveling adventures!Did you happen to name him after another space traveler we're familiar with?Bless you and your family!Rob[This message has been edited by Rob Joyner (edited August 14, 2004).]Matt TThat is great news. Many congratulations to you, the new little fellow and his mum.Looking forward to seeing a picture of this latest astro candidate soon. Cheers,Matt------------------www.spaceracemuseum.comRobert PearlmanCongratulations Andrew to you and your wife! Wherever Owen lands in the future, I am sure he will have a fan base here on cS (championed by a very proud -- and rightly so -- father)!RodinaThanks for all your good wishes!Owen is not named after any space traveller, it is just a name we could both agree upon -- I had been angling toward naming him after one of my two favorite Americans, Benjamin Franklin or Frederick Douglass, but I couldn't get executive buy-in.Besides, I can only think of one astronaut named Owen, anyway, and -- well -- with no disrespect meant, I think of Owen Garriot as sort of the Chester Arthur of the Astronaut Corps -- cool facial hair, but remembering what he did, exactly, isn't so easy.[This message has been edited by Rodina (edited August 15, 2004).]PhilipProficiat ... Congratulations with the newborn from Belgium - Europe !AlanCongratulations ( I'll second that from Belgium ) ;-)heng44...and I'll third that from the Netherlands. Before you know it he'll be 16 years old and 2 meters tall, as my son is.Ed
