domHamish Harding is one of the passengers aboard the missing commercial submersible at the Titanic wreck site in the North Atlantic.
Robert PearlmanRichard Garriott shared on Twitter the letter he sent to Explorers Club members:

Harding confirmed his participation in the dive in a post on Instagram on Saturday:

I am proud to finally announce that I joined OceanGate Expeditions for their RMS TITANIC Mission as a mission specialist on the sub going down to the Titanic.

Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic in 2023. A weather window has just opened up and we are going to attempt a dive tomorrow. We started steaming from St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada yesterday and are planning to start dive operations around 4am tomorrow morning. Until then we have a lot of preparations and briefings to do.

The team on the sub has a couple of legendary explorers, some of which have done over 30 dives to the RMS Titanic since the 1980s including PH Nargeolet.

More expedition updates to follow IF the weather holds!

Submersible pilot and fellow NS-21 crew member Victor Vescovo confirmed he was not part of this expedition on Twitter:
I have been asked to comment by many in media and other avenues, but I am sorry, I have no comment at this time. I have good friends onboard the submersible.
Former NASA astronaut Terry Virts, who set a world record with Harding on a flight around the globe aboard a Gulfstream, also shared his thoughts on Twitter:
Hoping for the best for my good friend and fellow explorer Hamish Harding and his crewmates aboard the submersible Titan, who were in the Atlantic Ocean exploring the Titanic.

Thanks and appreciation to the tremendous rescue operation underway now.

Robert PearlmanOceanGate Expeditions has said it believes all five people on board the Titan "have sadly been lost." The U.S. Coast Guard says pieces of the missing submersible were found on the ocean floor, about 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic.

OceanGate said in a statement that "we now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost."
