T O P I C R E V I E WSpaceyInMNI'm looking for high resolution images of Milt Thompson flying a lifting body. I've found some of him on the ground with them, but for the ones I can find in flight, it's unclear whether or not he's the pilot from the captions. Any help is appreciated.X-Plane FanIn-flight photos of lifting bodies are few and far between since NASA preferred motion picture over stills for most chase flights. While Milt flew the majority of M2-F1 flights, he only made the first five flights in the M2-F2 before leaving the lifting body program. Here are a couple of Thompson M2 images. Hope this helps: 1 | 2 | 3.SpaceyInMNThank you for the background information and the great photos!Jurg BolliIn the last image the front landing gear seems to be sideways. Did it rotate upon deployment?X-Plane FanOn that flight the nose gear rotated upon deployment but the aircraft landed without incident.Cozmosis22The December 1966 issue of Air Progress has a good article by Milt Thompson which includes a few nice photographs. SpaceyInMNAny idea of who the pilot was in this image?X-Plane FanThis would be flight M-14-21 on 11/21/66: Jerauld Gentry in M2-F2Bruce Peterson in Chase NASA 812
