T O P I C R E V I E Wanil8torI am working to finish, (almost done) what I call a "B" grade A7L. (My B grade is far superior to other A grade suits.) It is an Apollo 11 A7L-a in launch configuration. It includes an "A" grade helmet that is an exact copy of a 1967 helmet I have. The suit was the last prototype before my Beta cloth A versions. It is constructed of cotton-duck, and the fittings are plastic castings of actual hardware. Except the helmet has an aluminum anodized ring. All seams and other details are exact. Just search Apollo A7L on eBay starting perhaps Wednesday, Dec. 18th. Photo slide show of the suit is now located here. If someone would like to make an offer before the auction is posted on eBay, please email (starts at $4000).anil8tor Teacher in spaceThis suit looks great! Did you make all parts by yourself?anil8torSome more photos: 1 | 2 | 3Teacher in spaceGreat looking suit!mode1charlieYes, looks great. Thinking about this one but gotta get through holidays and travel first. Two questions though: what ventilation is there to prevent suffocation; and two (maybe not unrelated) is a backpack also available or is the exact same cloth material readily available to allow the buyer to make one? Ok, three questions (nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!): I assume hoses are not included, but will the valve fittings functionally accept hose valves? Thanks and great work.anil8tor quote:Originally posted by mode1charlie:what ventilation is there to prevent suffocation There is a flexible vent that runs from the lower left LS connector to the rear of the suit side helmet connector. It lines up with the headrest/vent on the helmet. quote:I assume hoses are not included, but will the valve fittings functionally accept hose valves? I use a standard airlock fitting to connect my blower (not included) to vent the suit. In the pictures I was trying a different blower, plenty of air to breath, but not enough to keep the helmet from fogging. I plant on a new photo shoot Sunday with the regular blower. It should look better. quote:is a backpack also available or is the exact same cloth material readily available to allow the buyer to make one? This suit is offer in Launch configuration, so no LS pack. However it is cotton duck, so one could easily be made. Thanks for your interest!Mike DixonIt's an amazing achievement. Puts a few others I've seen over the years to shame.Charlie16Dear David, I'm glad to hear that you're still in business. I have to thank you for inspiring me to build the Apollo spacesuits. I can not wait to see your latest Beta cloth masterpiece. — Luigi Pizzimentianil8torI decided to sell the suit in parts, here is the listing for the helmet and the gloves.mode1charlieGiven how quickly the Replica Apollo A7L launch gloves sold, I'd say there's a market for someone who wants to go into that business. apolloprojecktI thought I had read that the whole suit with all the trimmings for a starting price was $ 4,000 in sales ,the helmet is very nice item but the gloves were sold cheaply for this advanced workanil8torThe suit is still available, and would include a helmet with plastic cast rings (connectors). There would be a bit of as delay as I await a shipment of bubbles from my supplier. Or you could have the suit without the helmet for a somewhat lesser price.anil8tor quote:Originally posted by Charlie16:I'm glad to hear that you're still in business. Luigi! my friend, sorry I missed your post. I just noticed it. Yes, I am still here doing suits when time permits. I have had a couple promotions at work that take a lot of my time. Perhaps you could send me an email and we can chat.Charlie16Mail sent David.James CYes! Make me some gloves!anil8torThe suit is up now.mode1charlieYour "A-grade" replica bubble helmet is being sold separately, but you mentioned a "B-grade" helmet with plastic fittings. I'd be much more likely to consider bidding if that were part of the package. Is that possible, or what are your thoughts? Thanks. On edit: you include some information about sizing in the description, but before considering such a significant purchase, can you please be more specific on what height/weight the suit was constructed to best fit? Again, thanks.fbullingtonAMAZING!! Well done, would love this suit.
