Lunar_module_5 | If I want to send an item for signing to a former astronaut in the United States from overseas and want to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for return... where do I get the postage stamps? Or is this done in another way? |
MarylandSpace | I often buy sheets of new stamps or loose new stamps on eBay at face or even below face value. |
Kirsten | When I sell spare items to someone in the US, I am sometimes having them paid in US stamps. |
Torsten | How do you guys from Europe request autographs from the USA that need prepaid postage? I registered on usps.com and saw that: - printable postage is date sencitive
- Their shop doesn't ship to Europe.
I've send international reply coupons to John Glenn, but it seems that he's the only one accepting this?Editor's note: Threads merged. |
spaced out | I have some spare US stamps I can sell you at cost. I've sent you an email. |
JasonB | I would assume that some cash that errs on the side of too much and a filled out customs form (if it's needed) would usually grease the wheels a little. It would at least show your honestly trying to get an autograph from them at a bare minimum of expense and trouble to them. I would think that the trouble of filling out a customs form would stop most people from replying to international requests. Seems to me it would be a pain. |
Grounded! | I agree with Jason. Cash is king. If you can get American dollars to send (not a check) all the more better. Make sure you cover his/her postage costs and then some... If you have been in contact with the astronaut via e-mail, you might ask if they have a PayPal account. Compensating him/her in this way can make things easier for both of you. I don't know how your post office operates but here in America they are no help at all when it comes to these situations. Good luck! |
ilbasso | If you can afford it, you could print a FedEx or DHL prepaid shipping sticker to include with the return envelope. That way, you could also track the item when it is being returned to you. |
eurospace | I don't really see where the difficulty is: I simply buy US stamps at face value. USPS has an agent for Europe based in Germany: Offizieller Philatelistischer Dienst der US-Postverwaltung in Europa Venusberg 32-34 73545 Lorch, Germany Tel. +49 (0)7172-8966 They bill you in Euro according to the current exchange rate. Handling fee 2,50 Euro. Orders under 50 Euro are charged with a "small orders fee" of 5 Euro. So it's wise to order for more than 50 Euro at a time.Easy, cost effective, pretty efficient, and they speak English, too. |
Torsten | They also have a webpage. |
Tykeanaut | When I sent my books to John Glenn and Eugene Cernan for signing I enclosed a $20 dollar bill in each for return postage. |
COR482932 | I'm from Ireland, and I am wondering would anyone be able to sell me U.S. stamps? This is because IRCs are not available in Ireland, and the minimum amount of dollars you can get in Ireland is $20. If anyone could give me an offer it would be greatly appreciated, and don't hesitate to send me an email. |
