T O P I C R E V I E WeiliskHi allI've just had some news from Dianne at the AAC office. She's said that the black presentation boxes will be arriving in Jan, there were some production problems at the printers.Has anyone received their Scott Carpenter one yet?All the bestEilismachbustermanHi Eilis,The first shipment (Carpenter) was mailed (I think) on Friday 17th December so hopefully us UK members might receive them on Thursday or Friday. Those lucky enough to live on the other side of "the pond" might have theirs a little earlier than we do.Best regards, DerekmdaymontJust received mine yesterday in Utah. 2005 Welcome letter, Space Center tickets, Archival box delayed 1 month. Received autographed signature of Scott Carpenter, and -cool - it was personalized! Also included was the photo of Gordon Cooper which he would have signed had he been able - nice photos, both!Best regards,Mark in UtahmachbustermanOutstanding Mark!!!I wonder if Scott personalised ALL the photographs? Wouldn't it be awesome if all the astronauts personalised the photographs to us? Best regards,Derek BigWaveDaveJust got mine....personalized, and "best wishes" silver sharpie over the Mercury capsule. Very Happy!DaveMark ZimmerGot my personalized Carpenter; helps make up for the For Spacious Skies fiasco from Countdown. machbustermanMy Scott Carpenter signed photograph (not personalized) and personalized and signed letter arrived today. Very happy indeed!! If anyone from the ASF is reading this... I'd be over the moon (no pun intended) if all the other installments were personalized .Regards, DerekeiliskHi allMine has arrived too, and what a great photo it is too! It's not personalised either, maybe that was for the first 50 or so that signed up?Of course now I'm going to have to have a holiday to Miami sometime before December 05...All the best, Happy New Year!EilisMark ZimmerI only signed up this last August and mine was personalized, so I don't think it was the low numbers---and it clearly wasn't based on alphabetical order. So I don't know how certain people rate and others don't.machbustermanMark,I think Eilis (like me) signed up in December which might explain the lack of a personalisation.Like you, I hope Schmitt can be persuaded to join the AAC for 2006 and if they could get either Mike Collins or John Young (I'm dreaming here!!) I'm sure they'd have no trouble in filling all 350 memberships.Regards, DerekMark ZimmerI'm hoping that Collins and some of the other difficult ones will take part eventually; after all, if Aldrin will do it without his usual hefty fees, why wouldn't they? And in the back of my mind is of course the possibility of Armstrong at some point for those who have been members through the entire program.....One can dream, can't he?eiliskHi MarkI signed up at Autographica, which I think is the same as Derek. Our posts will cross soon and we can find out for sure(-:I think on my wish list, apart from Neil Armstrong, would be Sally Ride and John Young All the bestEilisdisglobesHi Ellis, Why don't you send Sally Ride what you want signed? She only charges $15 for a signature.CharleseiliskHi CharlesI'd no idea that she signed - I got the impression that she didn't anymore.Could someone please email me off-list with some contact details, or appropriate link? Many thanksAll the bestEilismdmyerI will send you some information.Well looks like you did not leave your e-mail address with Collect Space. I actually only signed up for the 2005 AAC in mid November. I was swithering at Autographica whether to join or not... didn't take too long to decide!! Best decision I've made.Cheers, DerekmachbustermanThe 2nd instalment in the 2005 AAC arrived yesterday. Its a nice signed (not personalised) photograph of Dr. Norm Thagard asleep in his "kayouta" or stateroom aboard the Mir Space Station in 1995. Accompanying the photograph was a letter describing his launch from Baikonur and stay aboard Mir and a presentation archive storage box to store the 2005 photographs/letters.Rgds, Derek machbustermanThe 3rd installment of the 2005 AAC arrived on Saturday morning. It was a very nicely signed black and white photograph from Apollo 12 LMP astronaut Alan Bean. The photograph is the famous one taken by Apollo 12 CDR Pete Conrad which is a close-up of Beano's helmet which clearly shows Pete's reflection in the visor. Accompanying the photograph was a letter describing the Apollo 12 mission.Rgds, DerekeiliskHi DerekI've only just received mine, thanks to the efficiency of Royal Mail...ended up going to collect the package myself and losing my wallet in the process!Still - great item! So far that's my favourite, and much nicer than my other Alan Bean sig. Does anyone know who will be next month's astro? All the bestEilismachbustermanHi Eilis,Sorry to hear about your tale of woe with the Royal Mail and losting your wallet. Many of us UK members of cS have had many run-ins with the Royal Mail/Post Office so you are not alone. The Bean pic is my favourite so far as well. I'm so looking forward to the others coming.... especially Aldrin, Schweickart, McDivitt and Haise... heck, I'm looking forward to them all. No idea who next months will be. I asked Dianne at the ASF but she isn't giving anything away .Best regards, DerekeiliskHi DerekI quite enjoy not knowing, although if I've got to collect any more of them it's going to be an expensive year.Once we get to November I could make an accurate guess about December (-:All the bestEilismachbustermanHi Eilis,I like your thinking <LOL>. Whats the bets that its going to be Buzz Aldrin in December Kind regards, DerekMark ZimmerI'm certainly curious as to the 2006 roster--if they're going to try to keep a sprinkling of big names, that means they'll have to start twisting arms of some difficult signers. But if anyone can manage it, that would be the AAC. Aldrin's certainly a coup that might get others on the bandwagon.eilisk>>Whats the bets that its going to be Buzz Aldrin in December<<That would be a sweet Christmas pressie! Perhaps next years AAC could be themed: astronauts by month of mission (-:My wallet turned up too Derek - near you in Scotland! As a London resident who's not been up there for over 10 years I'm a little surprised to say the least...All the bestEilis
