T O P I C R E V I E WAztecdougI was curious how many commercially produced products had Neil Armstrong's signature?I can think of four or five or... Paul Calle's sketch of Neil Armstrong in his Snoopy CapNaval Aviation In SpaceNavy to The Moon"The Lindbergh" print I had seen some European stamp blocks. I was not sure if these were a commercial release.I have also heard of a book called, "An Unforgettable Flight," numbered A-Z which had been signed too.I was just curious if I was right about all of them, or if there were others over time.astronutAlso the first Rasmussen called simply "Naval Aviation." All three of the Rasmussen's (the various Navy ones), the Calle, and the Lindbergh he signed for free (as did all the signers) as they were sold to raise money for various museums. The Sieger stamp blocks I'm not sure of, as the 20 astronauts involved were given $5 (I believe that's right) for each signature. Mr. Armstrong might have passed his signing fee on to a charity though.WAWalsh I do not believe that I have ever seen a copy of the referenced Lindbergh print. Does anyone have a link to an image of one so that I could take a look at one?AztecdougI understand that there were about 350 total of the print, "Lindbergh Arrives Over Paris." This was done for the 50th anniversary of Lindbergh's historic flight. Of the 350, only the first 100 were signed by Armstrong, Lovell, Shepard and Doolittle. While it was done about 25 years ago, apparently it only hit the store shelves late last year, or early this year. Naturally it sold out.I have never heard of, "Naval Aviation." Does anybody have a link to that? Or other information?WAWalsh I know I do not want to hear the answer to this one, but, how frequently are these prints resold and what has been the price for the print over the past few years?Robert PearlmanYou see some of these prints surface rather regularly for resale. I would rank the Calle print and Naval Aviation on the Moon rarer, with Naval Aviation in Space close behind. The Lindbergh print is too "new" to know what type of frequency it will be resold.ScottHe also signed the 1982 "Great Moments in Aviation History" litho. It is a limited edition of 1100 and is pencil signed by Armstrong and 16 others, including Chuck Yeager, Jimmy Doolittle, Curtis LeMay, Joe Foss, Paul Tibbets, etc. It is not as well known as the others as for some reason it rarely comes up for sale. I have one and I was going to sell it but my wife didn't want me to because she loves the image! Armstrong's signature is in the lower right corner. MrSpace86I recently obtained an item signed by Neil Armstrong that done during a commercial signing back in the early 1990s. This made me wonder just how many of these commercial signings were done by Mr. Armstrong. A few I can think of (that have already been listed): Paul Calle print (1973)Sieger Stamp blocks (circa 1973)Naval Aviation in Space (1989)Flight Test Historical Foundation Fundraiser(1991)Navy to the Moon print (1993) Were there any others? I think it would also be beneficial if photos were posted. Thanks! Editor's note: Threads merged.stsmithvaFor his last commercial signing, in 1994, he signed 250 copies of a print of his county courthouse. As was the case for most of his signings, it was a fundraiser for a cause he wanted to support. (Actually, two.)MikeSpaceThe question on pricing is old, but I was the only bidder on a 'Naval Aviation in Space litho' on eBay a few months ago, paid under $2000. Having said that, I bought soon after the time of issue for $430. Those were the days...hinklerThe 75th Anniversary of Naval Aviation print was not signed by Neil Armstrong. It is signed by:"75th Anniversary of Naval Aviation Commemorative"Watercolor by R.L. RasmussenThe aviators featured are: George H. Bush LTJG, USNR, TBM AVENGER John H. Chariot412Asked Neil Armstrong last night about the Conquistadores del Cielo and this commemorative he did for his fellow members. He said he definitly recalls doing it with Jim McDivitt, but seemed puzzled that I had found one out there. Also mentioned he's still in touch with the group. Hope this adds some credibility to the piece.SpaceSteveThere's also a lithograph produced in 1994 entitled "Victory". It depicts an Olympic runner crossing the finish line, with mountains in the background. The lithograph is also signed by Lee Iacocca, Walter Cronkite, Sir Edmund Hillary, Gordie Howe, Hank Aaron and Muhammad Ali. It is numbered to 100, and was produced to benefit a youth sports charity, but apparently due to numerous obstacles, it never got off the ground.Heritage Auctions has had one per month in their sports auctions since January 2012, and prices have ranged from $1,900 to $2,800.liftoff1This "Neil Armstrong's First Flight" was seen on eBay (140843048908). I haven't seen this before. Was this a commercial signing?Robert PearlmanAs the autograph is personalized and the print is not numbered, it looks to be more the result of an individual autograph request than a commercial signing. To my knowledge, Armstrong never took part in a custom signing where he inscribed the item that he was signing.liftoff1Very good points, Robert. I contacted the seller and asked where the print originated and he replied that it "came from the Armstrong family". I also had the chance to ask Jim McDivitt about this item at the Apollo 17 fortieth at KSC. He laughed, told a couple of stories about the group, and then said "I remember that presentation... if the conquistadores asked you to do something, well, you did it!"By the way, anybody ever seen another one of these? I have no idea what it might go for...SpaceSteveI was just reminded of the 1982 Gathering of Eagles lithograph that Neil Armstrong signed. From 1982-2011, The US Air Force Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB Alabama commissioned lithographs for that year's class. The first litho in 1982 included Neil Armstrong, as well as Jimmy Doolittle, Pete Knight and Chuck Yeager, among several others.albatronHe signed some X-15 pieces and Bell X-1B items for the Flight Test Historical Foundation some years back. These pieces pop up fairly often. WehaveliftoffIt's ironic it was almost 33 years to the day Neil (and Buzz) first stepped on the Moon! It's also common to see this around Warren, Ohio, though the commemorative site is secluded near a Kmart and not within site of the original airport.
