T O P I C R E V I E WNarahtI know that most of the people here are interested primarily in astronauts, but I'm just curious which non-astronauts are also popular on Collectspace. Which mission controllers, administrators, NASA engineers and private entrepreneurs would you turn out to see? Would you pay for autographs?MoltkeGerald D. Griffin, Lead Flight Director for three lunar landing missions: Apollo's 12, 15 and 17.I would certainly pay for his autograph. If Steve Hankow is reading this (most likely), how about lining him up with Gene Krantz as a double act? He lives in Texas anyway.mdmyerI can tell you the ones that I have already traveled to see. When John Aaron was inducted in to the 2004 Oklahoma Aviation and Space Hall of Fame I went to Oklahoma City to meet him. Gene Kranz was the keynote speaker for the event and Jerry Bostick was there too. I have also traveled to see Sy Liebergot.I would like to meet Steven Bales, Chris Kraft, Gerald Griffin, and just about any other Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo Flight Controller or Director. I don't think they get the credit they deserve. I listened to Jim Lovell give two speeches last weekend and I don't think he mentioned a Flight Controller or Director once in those two speeches. One of my favorite signed books is Apollo: Race to the Moon by Charles Murray and Catherine Cox. This book has been signed by John Aaron, Jerry Bostick, Chris Kraft, Glynn Lunney, Steven Bales, Sy Liebergot and Gene Kranz. I have also had astronauts that served as CAPCOMs sign the book and add a famous CAPCOM transmission to their signature. These CAPCOMs include Charlie Duke, Scott Carpenter, and Jack Lousma. The two authors have also signed the book. I plan on adding CAPCOM Jerry Carr to this book in San Antonio and maybe some others. I would love to see some Mission Control Flight Directors and Controllers in San Antonio. Miranda and I are looking forward to meeting Sy again. We have an item to two for him to sign at San Antonio.Mike MyerHumboldt KSSy LiebergotI look forward to seeing everyone at the San Antonio UACC show—always fun. It’ll be great seeing Clint Howard, again. I’ll be bringing my new Apollo 13 EECOM BB caps, Apollo 13 CD-ROMs, and a few remaining first edition copies of my book and some other interesting items. I am scheduled to give a lecture there—working out the details with Steve H. Also, I’ve not yet heard anything re the MOCR tour at JSC.NarahtSy--I would love to be in San Antonio myself, but I am on the wrong continent, busy working on my thesis. quote:Originally posted by mdmyer:I would like to meet Steven Bales, Chris Kraft, Gerald Griffin, and just about any other Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo Flight Controller or Director. I have a first edition of Murray and Cox (first printing, too, I think), but no autographs yet.
