T O P I C R E V I E WspaceukPhill Parker - spaceuk - is pleased to announce that two of his space items are being displayed at the "Ready To Go" Exhibition of the Hat Museum located in Greater Manchester,UK. The two items are an Apollo space suit and helmet along with the Soviet Union's Pavel Belyayev, Voskhod-2 Pilot, soft flight helmet.Robert PearlmanCongratulations, Phill! If you can take a picture of your items on display I am sure many here would like to see them as they are presented even if we can not make the trip in person.Matt TSorry Phil, run that past me again!!!!'an Apollo space suit' - a whole one???! A real one???!!!!!Please expand on this.Cheers,Matt 'Phil Parker's New Best Friend' ThomasFFrenchIs that the Hat Museum in Stockport, just outside of Manchester?FFspaceukI prepared and issued the report item a day or so before the exhibition but at last minute - because I am using my Apollo replica suit in run up to 35th anniversary - I had to switch to the Shuttle replica suit with helmet but minus its EVA backpack and chest unit due to museum size/ space limitations where its displayed. [If only it was a real suit :-)) ]I do have large real space suit parts (Apollo) but they weren't relevant initially as it is 'head gear' exhibition at the Hat Musuem. The exhibition is about head gear and only late-on did organisers ask if they could use a space suit to '..entice..' folk to the displays. Originally it was just going be the helmet only. The Belyayev is Pavel's helmet from his Voskhod-2 days.I've not seen the display myself since I had to take them up to organiser's just before the opening day so they could organise everything and sign all the insurance papers etc etc.I will get to see them later and will take images then. From my viewpoint I am willing to help with just these two items as it helps attract folk to musuems and promote spaceflight - if only in a minor way on this ocassion.PhillspaceukFurther, I understand from the museum that the local newspapers including Manchester Evening News (regional daily newspaper) were to do some reports on the exhibition . Also, some of the local magazine press were to do some items about it and in some county council and regional magazines ( internal types I understand). The musuem were organising these photo calls etc.FFrenchIt does sound then like it is the museum I was thinking of in Stockport: http://www.stockportmbc.gov.uk/heritage/home.htm spaceukThe museum is The Hat MuseumFFrenchA colleague of mine who lives there just went by and took some photos of the spacesuit in the window - looks very good!FF
