All:First of all THANKS for the comments that have been posted. Here is a little more information regarding my find:
I bought a lot of ten photos on Sunday. Most of the pictures are of Mercury or Gemini spacecraft. Either on the launch pad, being launched, or in flight. Also, there is one Jim Lovell photo in the group and that is a business suit portrait picture.
As for finding it, I was actually leaving the flea market and on the way to my truck when I decided to walk by an area I hadn't been by. My mother wanted to walk in a different direction but I insisted on heading by the unshopped area. Since I also collect vintage baseball memorabilia I was actually more on the lookout for baseball gloves and bats.
I spotted a box full of paper items and started rummaging around and spotted a picture of a rocket on the pad. Naturally I went through the box item by item, pulling all of the space related pieces.
After calling the seller over I asked how much for the lot and he started in with how much he gets for each picture. But then he blurted out "Forty dollars" and I whipped out my wallet faster than the speed of light.
Yes, I managed to keep myself dry but I didn't wait around for any seller's remorse. Mom and I headed for home immediately and I tried to keep the happy dance to a minimum.
Incredibly each photo I bought was in its own magazine bag, but was haphazardly dumped in a box with all sorts of other paper items. Since this vendor was located outside, I am very thankful the weather cooperated and the piece wasn't ruined by any moisture collecting inside the magazine bag.
It'd sure be interesting to find out the provenance behind this item. How it ended up in a flea market must be one interesting story!! However I don't think the History Detectives on PBS will be able to figure this one out.
Thanks again for sharing this with me.
