.. seller indicates that he lived in Neil's hometown of Lebanon,Ohio. Thats nice, except that his hometown is Wapakoneta.. seller also indicates that this autograph was " not obtained in person" yet will provide a COA that it is genuine!! Maybe he should print up a 1000 sheet roll of these COA's that I can hang in my bathroom, since thats all that they are good for is to wipe my ......... |

Hi Thanks for the help, so wish Neil would sign for the people who really think something of him. I understand his place in history but would have thought it would be still nice for him that people do write to him after so many years wanting just their own little piece of history of that time and him though his autograph. If it was me I would feel sad that people have and do still buy fakes thinking it was my autograph and that I could have given this to them freely, sadly he will not so people like me/us have/want to buy from others and as we all know the market is a very big minefield. I have seen another Armstrong on e.bay which looks good to me, not the best item but I think this one is real would anyone please give their thought on it- thanks again for help http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2192923121&category=14438 |

Looks like an authentic autograph, but will lose value faster than if on another medium, as newspaper will NOT wear well.-chet |

He did live, I believe, in South Lebanon when he taught at the University of Cincinnati. He may still live there. |

I wasn't going to mention this as I didn't want to depress everybody...My wife is a manicurist in Houston and she was doing a manicure for a woman last week. This lady's last name is Armstrong and my wife of course knew a lot about Neil Armstrong because I collect. My wife half-jokingly asked, "Are related to the Mr. Neil Armstrong?" The lady replied seriously, "Yes, actually, my husband is his cousin. We have many autographs from him, things he's signed for us." My wife had not even mentioned that I collect autographs. True story. [This message has been edited by Scott (edited September 30, 2003).] |
