Astronaut Satoshi Furukawa, who flew on Soyuz TMA-02M to join the Expedition 28/29 crew on the International Space Station and SpaceX Crew-7 to join ISS Expedition 69/70, has retired from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), effective today (March 31, 2026).
Today, I graduate from JAXA, where I worked for 27 years.

To everyone who supported me, thank you very much. Encouraged by your warm words, I was able to carry out my duties, including two long-term space missions. My heart is filled with gratitude!

Furukawa said at a press conference in Tokyo that he is taking a position as a professor at the Kyorin University School of Medicine.
