Apollo 15 Commander Dave Scott's Gold Omega Speedmaster to be Auctioned in BostonRR Auction will present a unique piece of horological and space history at its upcoming Remarkable Rarities event: an 18K solid gold Omega Speedmaster Professional "Tribute to Astronauts" wristwatch, personally owned and worn by Apollo 15 Commander Dave Scott. The watch will cross the auction block on Saturday, September 20, at the Royal Sonesta Boston.

First presented to Scott during a special gala dinner hosted by Omega at Houston's Warwick Hotel on November 25, 1969, the watch was part of Omega's first-ever solid gold Speedmaster series, created in tribute to America's astronauts after the Apollo 11 triumph. Scott's watch, engraved "No. 16," features the inscription: "Astronaut David R. Scott, Gemini 8 – Apollo 9," with his later Apollo 15 mission added by Omega. A central dedication reads: "To mark man's conquest of space with time, through time, on time."
The Speedmaster, reference BA 145.022, features a 42mm solid gold case, burgundy red aluminum bezel with the signature "dot over ninety," a solid gold dial marked "OM" (Or Massif), onyx-set hour markers, and the Lemania-based caliber 861 movement. Offered with a detailed letter of provenance signed by Scott, the watch has remained in his personal possession since its presentation.
Earlier this year, Neil Armstrong's No. 17 gold Omega Speedmaster from the same commemorative series achieved $2.125 million, setting a world record for an Omega Speedmaster from this historic "Tribute to Astronauts" edition.
