Can anyone help me with the history of this Apollo 12 mission patch, from the collection of Walt Cunningham? For me, there is no indication that this patch actually flew. Perhaps the COA is simply worded unfortunately, although that would surprise me.

Unless I missed it, I do not see anything to suggest it being offered as flown. The lot title and description do not state as such.According to the Crew Patches website, Lion Brothers patches (like this one) did not fly. It is just a nicely mounted patch, much like those presented and hung in the lobby of the launch control center at Kennedy Space Center. |

Robert, thank you very much for your opinion and for confirming that my understanding — that it is unflown — is correct. |

Interesting that the COA states that Apollo 12 was launched in December when it should say November. |

Walt was not know for accurate certificates. A case in point is the Apollo 1 prototype in flight coverall boots I purchased from him with a detailed COA. In fact the boots were Skylab prototype boots and the COA was wrong. I think in late years his mind was not as sharp. He was still a beloved figure in the space program. |
