My son-in-law challenged me to find a space cover that commemorated turtles in space... I found the Soyuz 20 launched November 17, 1975 was an unmanned mission but had two tortoises aboard and both survived a 90.5 day mission. Please help me find a space cover and even better sell me one so I can give it to him. Thank you. |

A search of eBay using 'turtles' and 'space' in worldwide stamps turned up this ... for ~$7.50 plus whatever the tariff fee because of overseas shipping. TRANSNISTRIA 2018 — Turtles Flight into Space 50th Anniversary First Day CoverThese are the official postal stamps which are used for postage in the territory of Transnistria. Transnistria, also known as Trans-Dniester, Transdniestria and Pridnestrovie (full name: Pridnestrovskaya Moldavskaya Respublica or PMR), is a breakaway republic within the internationally recognised borders of Moldova, created after crash of the USSR. Although not recognised by any state or international organisation and de jure part of Moldova, it is de facto independent and functions like a state. It is organised as a presidential republic, with its own government, parliament, military, police and postal system. Its authorities have adopted a constitution, flag, a national anthem, and a coat of arms. PMR (The Trans-Dniester Moldavian Republic) is situated in the south-eastern part of Europe. It borders with Ukraine and Republic of Moldova. Its territory is about 4,163 sq.km. or 1,607 sq.mi. Its population is 537 thousand. |

If you want to be a bit cute about it, you could try finding a cover for the Group 22 astronaut class selection in 2017. Their class nickname is "The Turtles."Or an even deeper dive would be to find shuttle-era covers for the flights of the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM) Leonardo (a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle). |
