Unlike some collectors, I prefer my covers to have an addressee. I have many well known names, such as Robert Boudwin, Donald R Graf, John Zee, etc. I also have many obscure one-off names. This however is a name I have hundreds of covers for, but no matter how many times I try to compare them in order to make out the name, I fail, his/her handwriting defeats my attempts at interpretation. Can you help? Does anybody know who this individual was/is. S/He is the addressee on numerous types of launch covers but mostly on Atlas (ABRES) and Minuteman covers. The best I can guess at is either J Juulian or S Sumlian. |

I wonder if there is some kind of FOIA request that could be done to learn of historical names who resided in 6001 Park Heights Avenue Unit 15 in Baltimore? |

Environmental Data Resources (EDR) is a source for historical phone books by address. Cost is probably less than $100. Have not used them in years. Address look like L L cursive. Contact EDR for phone listing database (present back to 1930s). Some nearby Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) may be public if produced for a government agency. |

The nearby Public Safety Training Center must have at least one (1990s-2026) Phase I Environmental Site Assessment. Perhaps they would release the 1960s era Phone Record address search for 6001 Park Heights Unit 15.Public Safety Training Center 3500 W Northern Pkwy, Baltimore, MD 21215 No obvious phone number on Google Maps

My guess is that the last name is Smulian, with J most likely for the first initial since the bottom loop is distantly different than the S of Smulian right next to it. But of course it could just be a handwriting thing and S is still possible for the first name too.Smulian is a real last name that existed in Baltimore at the time, a 1950 census search shows several families with this last name, none of them living at 6001 Park Heights Ave. But since it appears to be an appt/multi-unit building not everyone is always accounted for during the census records or the person could have moved there sometime after 1950. The 1960 census records will be released to the public in 2032. Love the effort to document the collectors names, this type of research is something I have been doing personally for a long time. If I find anything else I will certainly share. |

Thanks people.I have sent off a couple of emails to suggested source data holders, plus I fired one off to the Baltimore mayoral office as well. No replies as yet but I'll update here if I ever get a definitive response. |
