NASA Project Highwater - Retro Series PatchNASA’s Project Highwater was a series of upper-atmosphere experiments conducted in the early 1960s using the second stages of the Saturn I rocket during test flights for the future Apollo program. After completing their primary mission, the spent stages were intentionally ruptured to release tens of thousands of gallons of water into near space, creating massive expanding clouds of ice crystals and vapor that allowed scientists to study the ionosphere, atmospheric dynamics, and the effects of large-scale disturbances on radio communications during the early Space Age.
This patch depitcts a Saturn I being split apart by the explosive charges. The patch is 4" in diameter and in stock.
