Roughly 18 to 20 years ago, I bought a couple of Skylab 1 patches from astronaut Paul Weitz via the late Al Hallonquist.

These are 4-inch AB Emblem cloth-backed patches. Weitz was selling those as well as STS-6 patches from his collection. I cannot find any certificate of authenticity for these, nor do I have the old emails between Al and me — none before 2009 at least — so I guess I still had AOL service when I bought the patches and no longer have access to those old emails.

Did anyone else here also buy patches from Weitz, and if so, receive a COA? I would like to get a copy, but I wonder if a copy would mean anything to another collector. I bought two with the intent of eventually selling one later, or trading it. It's only significance other than being vintage cloth-backed is that it was owned by Paul Weitz. I keep my COAs in one place, yet cannot find one for the SL-1 patches.

By the way, a humorous story regarding the STS-6 patches... I asked Al if he knew if those patches were Lion Bros, or AB Emblem. He asked Weitz, who replied, "Does it matter?" LOL. So, I still don't know what type he had and clearly Weitz didn't know.

I have a certificate of authenticity from the U.S. Space Walk of Fame. The Skylab 1 patch I purchased was one of 25 in original packaging donated by Astronaut Paul J. Weitz.

The date was March 24, 2009 and signed by Walk of Fame President Charlie Mars.

I never knew about that sale. The date helps pinpoint when I got mine — probably shortly before the US Space Walk of Fame sale.

Perhaps there was no COA with mine.

I have an SL-1 and STS-6 patch from Weitz in my collection. They come along with a COA signed by him. So feel free to reach to me if I can help.
