I can foresee astronaut Scott Altman being asked to sign more than a few of these Hot Wheels Top Gun 40th Anniversary sets once they are released on July 23. Hot Wheels flies into fans' dreams this year at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), with a recreation of the famous inverted flight combat scene from the original Top Gun. Locked in and ready to rock, this authentic display showcases Maverick and Goose expertly performing the "impossible" as they invert their F-14 Tomcat over an enemy "MiG-28" (behind-the-scenes movie trivia – there's no such fighter jet, it was actually a repainted F-5 Tiger). For those unaware, before joining NASA's corps, Altman was stationed at NAS Miramar, where "Top Gun" was filming. He was among a small group of F-14 pilots selected to fly the stunts for the movie, including this scene. When (in the film) Tom Cruise gives the finger to the MiG pilot, it is Altman's finger that you see.
