In 2022, NASA awarded Canoo Technologies a contract to provide the crew transport vehicles ("Astrovan") for use during the Artemis program. The Torrance, California-based company delivered three of the fully-electric vans to Kennedy Space Center a year later. In January 2025, Canoo went out of business. Without ongoing support for the vehicles, NASA decided not to use the three Canoo CTVs they received for the Artemis crews. Less than 50 of these challenge coins were created to mark the partnership. They were exchanged between the NASA and Canoo team members. One side displays the Artemis logo with the words "Crew Transport Vehicle" and "Mercury" "Gemini" and "Apollo." The other side reads "Honored To Provide The First Nine Miles" and is dated for 2023 with a design replicating the Canoo wheel. | |
