Soyuz TMA-06M mission patch

Soyuz TMA-06M, currently scheduled to launch on Oct 15, 2012, will deliver Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin and NASA astronaut Kevin Ford to the International Space Station to join the Expedition 33 and Expedition 34 crews.

The TMA-06M patch can be seen in the Expedition 34 crew portrait.

The patch was designed by Evgeny Tarelkin. And of course, these are Photoshopped into the crew portrait, since the embroidered patches started their journey to Russia just yesterday.

Поздравление Евгений! (Congratulations Yevgeny) A very nice patch! What is the meaning of the "comets" and its colors under each name?

In helping Tarelkin finalize the art for this patch, we considered a number of options for the colours. In the end, Tarelkin opted for white and red, the colours from the seal of the City of Dmitrov, where he was born; red and green for Novitsky, from the flag of Belarus, where he was born; blue and a yellow star from the flag of the state of Indiana, the roots of Ford.

I like the way the ISS solar panels form "XXXIII" for the 33rd Expedition.
