Space Shuttle Commemorative Patch Entry
Artist-supplied caption:

This Space Shuttle Program commemorative patch features the Space Shuttle itself in the center, flying around the Earth that launched it. This Shuttle and the orbit that follows is a relic of the Space Shuttle Program patch. As recognition for their fine service, the names of all five Shuttle orbiters cover the bottom like the crew patches they carried. Two of Shuttle's most recognized achievements, the International Space Station and the Hubble Space Telescope, are shown on the sides. The Astronaut Office symbol covers the top, in thanks for the many crewmen who risked their lives for the advancement of knowledge - and the fourteen stars on the tails are for those who did pay the ultimate price. The Earth in center recognizes the accomplishments not just of the United States, but of every person around the world that dedicated their lives to the dream and accomplishment of human spaceflight.
