Andrew of AB Emblem was quite helpful. He contacted NASA directly in Houston and received the following response: <BLOCKQUOTE>[i]Exp. 21 patch made with no names. In those days we would do a version with no names prior to launch and one with names after they landed since we had a rotating astronaut and the uncertainty of some shuttle launches occurring on time we would opt to make expedition patches with no names to make sure the crew names we did put on there were accurate. The Exp. 22 patch graphic was made with no names and a small amount may have been made with no names, but the majority were made with names. Ultimately the crew decided to go with names on the final version for before and after launch.[/i]</BLOCKQUOTE> In short, the Expedition 22 patch with names is the official version, at least according to this individual at NASA whom Andrew communicated with. Hope that clears things up, but it may only spark more debate as to why things remained the way they did for years. Glad to finally be on board!
