[i]The first Malaysian astronaut may fly the International Space Station (ISS) in September 2007, deputy head of the Federal Space Agency Yuri Nosenko said after signing a related contract. "Preliminary training of four candidates started on May 15," he said. "They will be trained and examined at the cosmonaut training center in Zvezdny Gorodok and the Medical and Biological Problems Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences until May 30. The main candidate for the flight and his backup will be chosen in August-September 2006. The main phase of preparations for the flight will start in September and last for about one year," he said. A contract on the ISS mission of a Malaysian astronaut was signed between Russia's Rosoboronexport and the Malaysian Defense Ministry.[/i]
