SpaceAholic, thanks for your comments. I suppose it boils down to one's approach to politics: whether it's best to take a stand, or to forge a tactical coalition to get a deal. |

Referring to the comment by CBS News about the end of US manned spaceflight, it seems that everyone just accepts it. A few people in the government make a decision and the people just mindlessly follow along. As for the media, the couldn't care much for most of the shuttle program and now they gather for the funeral. If U.S. manned spaceflight does end, well, we got what we deserved. |

It'll take China, or India, or even Russia, to kick America in the pants (the same as it ever was - Soviet Union - 50 years ago), to convince policy makers that ceding the higher ground, may cost you much more than just prestige.As for Armstrong, Lovell, and Cernan's commentary, I appreciate their plain speak. | |
