I have a number of photos of the Gemini 12 spacecraft and docking mechanism enclosed in a tent-like structure at Cape Canaveral. Can someone please explain what this structure is and what kind of activities were conducted in it in advance of the flight? The three accompanying photos show the exterior of the structure as seen from the ground, the spacecraft and docking target (an Agena?) being installed in the structure, and an astronaut conversing with McDonnell technicians inside the finished structure. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is the boresight facility in the KSC industrial area. I've not seen it with the protective cover before. Here's a report (PDF) about the facility with a few illustrations toward the end. |

Quest article: The Infamous Timber Tower and the KSC Boresight Range Among the enigmatic test facilities used in the Space Race was a wooden structure and a boresight range designed for near-field measurements on antennas. This article discusses the use of these facilities for the NASA Gemini program. |

Reminds us a bit of the Gemini X testing when a Gemini capsule was docked with an Agena Target Vehicle in order to get the radar bore sighted.Young and Collins were present as the EVA umbilical cord and chest pack were connected to the spacecraft Environmental Control System. |
