I am posting this on behalf of George Hay, who is now 82 and was the lead safety diver for the ERA — the group contracted to oversee the Gemini underwater buoyancy training in 1966. George has held on to a collection of 16mm reels, hundreds of photos and some negatives from the Gemini sessions we think may be the only ones that exist — no hard copies made prior to use having them digitized. Most fascinating to me is his personal logbook of the day to day Gemini training sessions from start to finish. These have hardly been out of a box for 60 years. I realized it was exactly 60 years ago this fall they were conducting the sessions. George is interested in keeping this collection together and is open to showing it to private collectors. Here is the story about his involvement with NASA and some of the collection. | |
