NASA Space Shuttle Return to Flight STS-114 bracelet, lapel ribbons and cigar. STS-114 was the first "Return to Flight" Space Shuttle mission following the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. After 2 1/2 years of work to make improvements in hardware and procedures NASA and contractors made an effort to improve morale with the Return to Flight bracelet as well as "Green for Go" event ribbons. These ribbons were handed out when Discovery was rolled out of the VAB to Launch Complex 39A.The Space Shuttle Discovery was rolled out twice for the STS-114 mission. The first rollout was halted due to a problem with the External Tanks liquid hydrogen low-level fuel sensor. Discovery rolled back to the VAB, the issue was corrected and then a second rollout was performed. With each ribbon was a card (that I no longer have) with this message: Return To Flight Entering the home stretchEach of you will receive a rollout ribbon that marks a significant milestone in returning the Space Shuttle safely to flight. Space Shuttle components from across the country have arrived at Launch Complex 39 facilities at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The Discovery Orbiter, Solid Rocket Boosters and External Tank will be integrated, tested and rolled out to the launch pad in late March. Please wear this ribbon to honor the sacrifice and dedication of our team across the nation working for a safe, successful mission. And as you wear this ribbon, keep the spirit of the STS-107 crew in your hearts as the STS-114 crew returns the Shuttle to flight. Thank you for your continued commitment to our Nation's space program. NASA Return To Flight STS-114 Bracelet - 2005 Space Shuttle Discovery. The bracelet reads: "NASA. Return To Flight. Explore Discover Understand."Condition: Excellent / Unused Condition. A Great looking / collectible bracelet. After a successful launch, I was given a celebratory cigar by a friend who worked at KSC. Cigars were a well known "end of mission" celebration at the Johnson Space Center, but not at KSC. I asked a former launch director about the cigar and why it never happened again and he responded: "there was a small group of guys that got caught up in the cigar fad, but it never caught on with the masses." List at $35. Flat Rate Small Priority Box.
