It's not too early to start talking up the next Space Unit National meeting, to be held in conjunction with the ATA's National Topical Stamp Show in Dayton, Ohio June 12 -14. The Space Unit is an organization of collectors of space stamps and space covers. But most of us are interested in just about anything having to do with space. FLIGHT will be the theme of the show that will be held at the Dayton Convention Center next June. 2009 marks 100 years since the Wright Brothers sold their first Wright Military Flyer to the U.S. Army and what better place than Dayton, Ohio to kick off NTSS ’09 with a First Day of Issue that portrays several different U.S. Military Aircraft? But the heart of the show to most attendees is the dealer base. Show chairman Robert J. Mather who brought MILCOPEX in Milwaukee back from the brink of collapse will do all in his power to make this a worthwhile show for ALL philatelists. The Space Unit meeting will convene Saturday afternoon, June 13 at the show. We need to fill frames with space exhibits at the show. Those of you who exhibit, or those who are thinking about it, please do! This will be a great chance to strut your stuff to your peers. Here's a link to the exhibit prospectus and application. Come join the fun! Or at least send an exhibit!!! |

In addition to out-of-towners who might come to this event, I know there are a number of CS members in the Cincinnati/Dayton/Columbus area (including me!), so this might be a good occasion for some sort of get-together, even if you're not all that interested in stamps. At the very least, a trip to the National Museum of the US Air Force should be in order. The Neil Armstrong Museum is also less than an hour away. Cheers, Kevin |

Sounds great, Kevin! If this goes like most of our other national meetings have gone, there will be plenty of time for trade/shoot-the-breeze sessions, dinner, and the museum tour sounds great! | |
