Some of the longtime members here may remember me from years ago under the name Space Soup Patches. My name is Ron Goode, and I was an active NASA and space patch collector from the late 1970s through about 2008. During those years I built one of the early websites dedicated to documenting space mission patches, Space Soup Patches. The goal was never to sell patches, but to photograph and document the many varieties for collectors and help preserve the history behind them.
After many years away from active collecting, I have recently returned to the hobby — not as a collector, but as someone who is carefully passing along the collection I spent decades assembling.
Over those years I was fortunate to acquire not only the standard mission patches, but also many of the more difficult pieces that seldom surface today, including early production examples, contractor issues, limited production and presentation pieces, and a number of rare mission patch variants that I look forward to sharing and discussing with fellow collectors.
As I work through the collection, I'll occasionally post items that may be of historical interest or available to collectors looking for a new home. I have always enjoyed the research and stories behind these pieces just as much as the patches themselves.
More than anything, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with old friends, meeting new collectors, and once again participating in the discussions that made this hobby so enjoyable.
It's good to be back.
