I have been working on this one for years, a perfect replica of the Vanguard 1 that I found in Ventura long ago. Eventually that model was last sold for 18k.

I found a great source for having the metal parts made. It'll look just like the flight article version. Bell made educational versions. The Bell has eight screws holding each solar frame down, the flight article has 12.

Two versions will be made, one with the acrylic base, one on the metal launch mount. Here are a couple pics of parts that were hand-polished:
