I am looking for some assistance verifying the flight status and/or spacecraft stowage location for an Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) era pouch that I've had in my collection for a few years, but never paid much attention to. I want to know where this pouch was located in the spacecraft (use of it) and if it was actually flown, or if it was a spare or training pouch.Below are pictures that show the front, back and inside of this pouch, including how it unfolds to reveal the integrated internal storage slots. It was manufactured by General Electric. Here are the exact details stamped on the data blocks: - Outer Container Cover P/N: SEF33101057-301
- Inner Kit Sleeve P/N: SEF12100310-301
- Serial Number (Both Stamps): 1001
- Manufacturer: General Electric Co.
- Date of Mfg: 5-8-75 (May 8, 1975)
- Internal Sleeve Marking: "PIN STRAIGHTENER PLIARS VELCRO"
The pouch is made of beta cloth fabric with Velcro tabs and is heavily stained.Does anyone happen to have a digitized copy of the ASTP Command Module Launch Stowage List or Docking Module Stowage List handy? I would be incredibly grateful if someone could check if these SEF part numbers appear on the manifest, and if so, what locker or pouch designation they were assigned to. Thank you so so much for any insights or documentation you can share with me.

This item is on the ASTP Stowage List hosted by cS.For SEF12100310-301, see Item 0170 on page 10. For some reason (imperfect scan?) the SEF part number does not seem to be indexed or findable with search but is findable in the Stowage List PDF by keyword "straightener". Stowage List states that it was contained in 00311(U3) I suspect U3 was the storage locker (shown on page 2 diagram in Stowage List) but not sure if 00311 corresponds to the Outer Container. The SEF33101057-301 part number does not seem to be in the stowage list. Since Serial Numbers are not in the stowage list I would say flight status for either item is Unknown absent any documentation. |

Try Google AI.It was able to track my item (SEF 33101052-301 Filter Assy, Couch Flood) history as used in capsule and replaced by Flown SEF 33101052-305 Page 118 Stowage list. SEF 33101052-301 was in the capsule during rehearsal/tests but not flown. |

I agree, David. Search (AI or otherwise) usually works much better given today's level of digitizing and indexing. I also have items whose full part numbers match readily to stowage lists and other online documents. For Roger's part number, 'straightener', 'pin' or partial part # string as a back door search within the PDF is the only thing that worked for me. I suspect the source scan was too flawed for indexing the full part number string in this case. Google AI seems to know of Roger's part number only by way of this cS thread when you look at sources. Google (AI mode) does conveniently suggest possible replacements with a modern photodetector assembly 12100310 or faucet cartridge GS100310, the only other search results in Google. I doubt either would fit . |
