Tony Pasko provides original music for this historical look at an important piece of NASA's hardware to launch humans to space. "We are happy to pass on the admission fee to the American Space Museum," said Mike Cotton. "We enjoy a great partnership with one of the few institutions preserving our incredible space age. Their contacts and support were integral in putting this documentary together." Tickets to this special, Sunday, Sept. 25th world premiere are $25 in advance at $30 at the door. Order here: "Base to Space" Only 100 Tickets are available. Mobile Launch Platform-2 (MLP-2) was the launch base for the Apollo Saturn V rocket and Space Shuttle, and its story includes the last place on Earth touched by Apollo 11, Shuttle Challenger and Skylab Space Station. The 50-minute film features many of the MLP-2 team members from the past 50 years, including astronaut Bruce Melnick, who rode the maiden flight of Orbiter Endeavour on STS-49 in 1992. Many of the principal characters from the film will be in attendance. This is the second film that Cotton and Barnes have worked on with Executive Producer Pete Charamut . Charamut is the owner of Frank-Lin Services based near the Kennedy Space Center, and when he was contracted by NASA for the demolition of MLP-2 to scrap, he knew the famous history and contacted the documentary team. This exclusive world premiere event will include presentations of MLP-2 pieces to ASM for their Shuttle Gallery, a short talk by the producers and a photo slide show of the backstory of this complex metal structure that was so important to America's Space Age. This is one of several Mobile Launch Platforms, loaded with either a Saturn V rocket or Space Shuttle, that the NASA Crawler took from the Vehicle Assembly Building to either Launch Complex 39A or B to launch humans and hardware into space. The event will start off with a "meet and greet" at 2:00 p.m., with the documentary's world premiere showing at 3 p.m. After the movie there will be a question and answer session, and a post-event party in the hotel lounge. | |
