I have bought several Russian 16mm films that cover/document USSR space developments or news.
It is a pity there is so little Soviet Union material online, let alone easy to find on YouTube. I want to change that and have the films scanned and put on my channel.
The audio is all in Russian, of course. I am thinking of paying to have them translated to text and have somebody else narrate them in English.
In what format would you prefer I upload the films? Russian only, with English subtitles or an English narration?

Before you decide about translation, you should ensure the films are in the public domain. By default, unlike in the U.S., Soviet and Russian government films remain property of the country.
A couple of decades ago, when Spacehab was still in business, the company acquired the exclusive rights to the Russian space film archives with the intention of bringing it all online. Unfortunately, Spacehab ran into financial troubles before that could happen and I believe the rights reverted back to Roscosmos or RSC Energia.
You might reach out to Glavkosmos, the commercial arm of Roscosmos, which is tasked with handling the space agency's international outreach efforts.

I would certainly like to see full coverage of the four N-1 launches, rather than the tantalizing glimpses that have previously been available in documentaries.

I understand your concern Robert.
However, these aren't full and complete space mission films. They are more so educational films meant for schools and the press. Think of them as NASA Space Report films.
I have received two, they are black and white and in good condition. Going to have them scanned and add English subtitles.
And more are on the way. These are so neat! going to be great to share.

Thank you! I appreciate it.
It just so happens that five more films arrived today! Four in B/W and one in colour! all but one are full 7-inch reels!
Going to have one digitized first so I can learn how to incorporate everything into something that looks and plays good. Using Fiverr to translate the Russian to English text. Just need to learn how to add subs with davinci resolve in a format that YouTube understands.
If that works out maybe I can release the films on a monthly basis.
