If I had to limit myself to only one or two of the very best books on the history and use of the Apollo-era lunar modules, what would you folks recommend? I'm hoping for at least somewhat in-depth information, but not too technical. Thanks for any suggestions you can provide...

I second Pellegrino's "Chariots for Apollo," an easy, enjoyable and really interesting read (it was for me, anyway).

I couldn't get into "Moon Lander" at all.

As chet said, "Chariots" was a far more enjoyable read. Brilliant in my opinion.

Another one is "Virtual LM" by Scott P. Sullivan in Apogee Books. A bit more technical though.

Sunburst and Luminary isn't about the Lunar Modules per-se, but covers the development of their onboard computers from the perspective of an MIT programmer.

The Haynes "Apollo 11" manual has good information. While targeted to scale model builders, the Space in Miniature "Apollo Lunar Module" issue has a lot of great information on how the vehicle evolved over the missions.

Thank you, all, for your helpful replies. This should help guide me as I do a bit more research and decide which book(s) to buy. Much appreciated.
