I remember watching a BBC documentary in the 90s (?) in which many of the moonwalkers were interviewed. It included a sequence with Pete Conrad who was shown in the control room of the Delta Clipper. When each of the astronauts was interviewed his number denoting which order they walked on the moon was displayed.

Anyone remember this programme?

You're probably referring to "The Other Side of the Moon," a documentary released in 1990 and shown on TV by the BBC. The director was Michael Lemle and if you check his website, he still sells copies of the film.

Please note that the full-length version is about 80 minutes, but the version I saw on BBC was a shortened version. The film features several segments with Pete Conrad, with a desert view out of his window. I'm not sure if he was interviewed in the Delta Clipper control room. (Even if this isn't the film you were thinking about, it's well worth getting.)

The program you are referring to is called "After One Small Step," made in 1994 as part of the BBC's 25th anniversary celebration. It followed a two part documentary called "Man on the Moon." Each part had an introduction by Neil Armstrong.

"After One Small Step" interviewed Buzz Aldrin, Charles Conrad, Alan Bean, Edgar Mitchell and Charlie Duke, each segment looking at how the astronaut has dealt with his fame. I remember these brought a very personal look at these simple, brave men who had been thrust into the public eye with everyone wanting a piece of them when they returned home.

Alan Bean's segment was filmed in his studio and showed his creativity while painting, being a bit of an artist myself, I loved this bit. Pete Conrad was on his motorbike in the desert and as mentioned working on the Delta Clipper. Charlie Duke spoke of his religious awakening and his understanding wife. Edgar Mitchell showed his case full of flown artifacts, country flags, his utility light and his Omega Speedmaster. Buzz Aldrin covered his problems with fame and alcohol.

I'm so pleased I recorded this on video and later copied it onto DVD. A great insight into the lives of these great men.

Not to be confused with "Moonshot," the JJ Abrams XPrize documentary.

That is correct, I have the documentary on a old VHS tape which is well worn. Do any members know how to access a DVD?

Panther is correct — there were a few "25th anniversary of Apollo 11" space documentaries in '94, this one was shown on the BBC. From memory it showed things like Buzz walking hand in hand with a white haired woman on a beach, Pete Conrad doing some cattle branding, Charlie Duke talking religion with his wife, and finished with Ed Mitchell driving his car and finding every radio station was playing a moon-related song! If you want a DVD burnt let me know.
