Flying Higher and Faster by Vance Brand The book is a collection of stories on Vance Brand's life from his boyhood days through military flying, civilian test piloting, and space travel to departure from the Johnson Space Center. Brand looks to the future in the fields of aeronautics and human space flight. That one went unnoticed... |

When will it be published in the UK? What a nice surprise that Vance Brand has written his story. I have seen him give a talk and he is an interesting person who has achieved a lot. Along with the Donn Eisele book a real bonus to add to our astronaut autobiographies. |

For those attending Spacefest VII in June, Vance will be selling copies of his new book there. |

Is there any indication of what Vance will be charging for signed copies of his new book? I for one would like to buy a couple. |

This is great. Could not agree more, Mel. Had the chance to talk with the Brands a few times over the years Beverly and Vance are really nice people. I will not be at Spacefest (sadly). Is there anywhere else signed copies will be offered? |

Has anyone reviewed the book? Amazon has no reviews on it yet. |

Per the Spacefest website, Brand will be charging his $90 autograph fee in addition to the cost of the book ($25 for softcover, $35 for hardcover). |

I cant make it to Spacefest either. Will there be any opportunities to buy a signed book directly from someone/him or will there be any type of a book signing tour? |

I spoke to Vance about the book while at Spacefest. He has no plans for a book tour and cannot accommodate requests through the mail, but he plans to be at the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation's Space Rendezvous in November. |

Thanks very much, Robert. I appreciate the research. I might check to see if someone can get it signed for me there. |

I purchased a signed copy at Spacefest. Have only read a few pages but looking forward to the rest of it. Vance is such a great guy and so easy to talk to. |

Vance Brand's book somehow got past me. I've slowed a bit on collecting books. I've got two rooms stuffed. I had breakfast with Vance and Beverly Brand and Nancy Conrad at one of the shows several years ago at Kennedy Space Center. I believe it was the Skylab 40th. The reviews in Amazon are lean on information, any readers from this site have any input? |

I forgot about Brand's book, it didn't get much publicity. You can never have too many space books. |

It's a quick, easy, read. More like a collection of short stories than an autobiography. I enjoyed it. |

I have only recently managed to obtain this book but it was worth the wait. Have to agree with David C's comments which sum it up rather well. The chapter about the Skylab rescue plans was particularly interesting and so too the very detailed reports on the extensive tours after the ASTP flight. They are some of the most detailed I have read. I have been fortunate enough to meet Vance Brand twice and his flights with Hoot Gibson, Bruce McCandless and Geoffrey Hoffman, all of whom I have also been lucky enough to meet, makes it all the more personal to me. A long and stellar career with NASA and a book very welcome in my collection. |
