I just had the pleasure of reading this book. Colin has done a great job in writing and illustrating this tome.I found both of these books take you back to 1961 and the events leading to the two manned Mercury-Redstone missions. It is sad that the orbital flights will not be done. The book is well done, but I found a flaw in the use and description of one photograph. I wish he had gone into the stopping of the MR missions — but that was probably pretext to his planned Glenn book. |

I would have been quite happy to continue this series through the orbital Mercury missions. Admittedly the flight of Friendship 7 has been well documented, and to a lesser extent Aurora 7, but it would have been good to cover the latter two missions, Sigma 7 and Faith 7 in the same way. However Springer Books New York didn't feel the market was there for books beyond the two suborbital flights, so maybe those folks asking for a continuation of the series could express this to the publishers, and just maybe they'll change their minds. |

On a semi-related note, have the Amazon printing issues been resolved? Any problems (badly resolved pictures) for cS'ers that ordered Liberty Bell 7 via Amazon? |

Senior editor Maury Solomon represented Springer Books at Spacefest VI and is contactable at maury.solomon@springer.com.As to the POD versions of the Springer Books, I have been told that this situation has been resolved, and I've not had any recent complaints. But I'm yet to be convinced it is no longer an issue. Perhaps other Springer authors with recent releases could comment on the quality of their publications? |

I sent my supporting voice to Springer as well and I do hope that Springer will change their mind if they have enough pushing from the readers community. |

I also have sent a message of support to Maury Solomon for continuing this series. Let's hope that Springer have a change of heart. |

I've also emailed Mr. Solomon in support of continuing the series. I haven't yet finished Liberty Bell 7, but so far it is fully the equal of Freedom 7.As for the quality of the POD, I purchased it from Barnes & Noble online, so I don't know who printed it, but the quality of the printing and binding is excellent. By contrast, when I purchased Freedom 7 from Amazon, I had to return the first copy because both the printing and binding were horrible. |

A small alert; Maury Solomon is actually a lady. I fell into the same trap when we first began communicating. |

Oops! I guess she won't be thrilled with my calling her "Mr. Solomon". I've never heard of Maury being a female name before.

I do not know if it was the result of the messages sent by all of you to Maury Solomon at Springers, but in her latest message to me she now believes it might be okay for me to submit proposals for a continuation of the Mercury series, taking in the four orbital missions.Thank you, everyone. |

Excellent news, Colin! Hopefully they will go through with it. Just don't get tired of writing until after you cover my favorite Mercury flight, Sigma 7 |

Wow that's great, Colin. A fitting tribute to the pioneering Mercury 7. I look forward to any new interview you may do with Col. Glenn for the MA-6 book. Sadly, like all our WW2 vets, there is only one left now to share his memories. |

Just a quick update, with many thanks to those who supported the continuation of this series through the orbital Mercury missions. The good news is that contracts are being issued by Springer Books New York for the flights of Glenn and Carpenter, which means that next year I will also submit proposals for the Schirra and Cooper missions.A busy time ahead ... |

Great book, I just finished it (a birthday present)! Too bad they never found the hatch. I was lucky enough to see Liberty Bell 7 a few years ago in New Jersey. |
