New Mexico Museum of Space History (NMMSH) release
Museum E-Publishes Curation Paper Number Nine

The New Mexico Museum of Space History (NMMSH) is pleased to announce publication of the ninth in a series of papers by the museum's Curation Department, Curation Paper Number Nine.

Edited by Asst. Curator Jim Mayberry, this issue is a commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Project Mercury flight Sigma 7 by Walter "Wally" Schirra (1923-2007). Captain Schirra (USN) recounts the mission, and the rest of his astronaut career in his oral history.

The issue also features the official NASA biography of Captain Schirra, who was the only man to fly NASA's first three manned programs: Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. He was, as well, the first person to make three space flights.

Curation Paper Nine and all earlier Papers can be downloaded from the museum's website.

New Mexico Museum of Space History (NMMSH) release
Museum E-Publishes Curation Paper Number 10

The New Mexico Museum of Space History is pleased to announce publication of the tenth in a series of papers by the museum's Curation Department, Curation Paper Number Ten. This issue features the oral history of Colonel Eileen Collins (USAF, Ret.). A veteran astronaut, Collins was the first woman to command a space shuttle mission, STS 93 Columbia.

Upon being named the first female shuttle commander, Collins said, "When I was a child, I dreamed about space – I admired pilots, astronauts, and I've admired explorers of all kinds. It was only a dream that I would someday be one of them. It is my hope that all children "boys and girls" will see this mission and be inspired to reach for their dreams, because dreams really do come true!" Collins was inducted into the International Space Hall of Fame in 2001.

Curation Paper Number 10, edited by Assistant Curator Jim Mayberry, also contains the NASA biographical sheet for Colonel Collins. Curation Paper Number Ten and all earlier Curation Papers can be downloaded from the museum's website.
