For those who have a copy of Hamish Linday's book "Tracking Apollo to the Moon" (Springer, 2001, ISBN 1-85233-212-3), there are numerous cartoons by Paul Rigby which are hilarious (see the one entitled "At Tranquility base" -p244). Does anyone have any info on Mr Rigby, his cartoons (maybe he published a book?)etc? (or any info about cartoonists would be appreciated- I have a Swiss one who also publishes in english, see: http://www.globecartoon.com/dessin/ and click on the english section)Chris |

During the years of the Space Race, Paul Rigby's wonderfully crafted and hilarious cartoons appeared in the Sydney "Daily Mirror" and I have several on spaceflight topics that did not appear in Hamish's book. I believe he went to work for London's "Sun" newspaper in the 1970s and now lives (IIRC) in Perth, Western Australia. I cannot recall any books of his cartoons being published. He certainly was a great cartoonist who must have spent many hours on each cartoon, which were always very detailed. |

Colin, thanks for the info. It's a pity such an artist's work go unnoticed. You're right about his cartoons, it's the details that make them so funny (ie. the two ET playing golf in the cartoon I've mentionned in my post). Chris. | |
