Asked about Evelyn Husband doing a book tour, and this is what I got in return:Thank you for your email regarding Evelyn Husband. I'm sure you can understand that Evelyn is a mother to her two children first and as such she has done a very limited group of media in order to stay focused on her family. Thank you again for your interest in "High Calling." |

I have just finnishedte book. Excellent and very emotional at the end. I was almost in tears. So very very very very sad. It is worth getting. One of the most emotional spaceflight books i have read.Rick was an extrordinary person. One of the kindest astronauts there has ever been. The books ends in hope though. Well worth getting. |

HelloI am not going to do this and I am sure if I did it would not work but wouldnt it be great to be able to get all the astronauts mentioned in this book that remain to sign it. But i think it would be unfair to ask this. We can all dream. Gareth |

Actually, somewhat related, I was wondering something as I decided to bring my copy of "Space Shuttle" to Cunningham's signing, on the off-chance that Doug Brown, Dave Brown's brother, would be there. This is meant non-judgementally, but is it only in the astronaut autograph field that people seek out family members' autographs when the primary signer is deceased? Look at the list: Don Chaffee, June Scobee-Rogers, Betty Grissom, and now Evelyn Husband. When has this become "acceptable" (e.g., as a substitute for a Roger Chafee, Dick Scobee, Gus Grissom or Rick Husband, to use the above examples) and where's the dividing line? How comes people will collect these and say, not a Suzy Young? Just curious, that's all. |

I think that anytime there has been a tragedy of sorts that takes an astronaut in the performance of his, her duties.. and the surviving family members are thrust into the limelight. That makes their signatures more desirable to the space related autograph collector. I myself have a bottle of " Bully Hill " New York State wine with a Shuttle label nicely signed to me by Grace Corrigan.. and every time I look at it see the famous picture of her looking up into the skies at the Challenger explosion. | |
