From Expedition 60 flight engineer Nick Hague on the International Space Station:
Just got a present in my care package on the Soyuz! It's a magazine from July 4, 1969 signed by Michael Collins wishing me all the best. I couldn't thank him enough. He's up here on the space station with us and his legacy continues to inspire.
Hague also mentioned the gift when Collins visited Mission Control on Wednesday (July 24), the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's return to Earth.
You may not remember because it takes quite a while to get things up here, but there was a little surprise that came up on the Soyuz with Luca [Parmitano] and Drew [Morgan]. There was a LIFE magazine that was from July 19, 1969 that had been hanging in my house for some time as inspiration. You were kind enough to sign it and include a little message in there for me. I just wanted to say thank you for that. Even today, you continue to inspire me and inspire all of us to be better.

All times are CT (US)
