I wanted to share my recent experience with Mike Mullane.

He replied with helpful, friendly e-mails, explained a short delay in replying to an e-mail (he was on holiday) and sent the books beautifully inscribed and very well packaged. The books are great, and the whole experience was very positive.

I second that! He is great at signing things mailed to him. He's one of my favorites.

I want to mail Mike Mullane an 8x10 STS-36 crew photo for him to sign. Does anyone know his habits and what he might not sign?

Mr. Mullane is a FREE and most gracious signer. I sent him a my copy of Riding Rockets a while back and he returned it nicely personalized, including all his missions. His book is a prized and permanent resident on my bookshelf.

I've talked to several people in the past few months who have had dealings with him, all say very kind things about the man.

Heck, he even posted a response to a comment I made on a YouTube video he'd posted, thanking me for the nice comments I made about his book!

If you ever get a chance to meet him in person, don't even think about passing it up. I got a chance to talk to him quite a bit at Spacefest, and he's one of the nicest, and funniest people you'll ever meet. His wife Donna is delightful as well. And his talk was great, too.

Mullane is one of the best.

I agree he is a really cool guy and one of my favorite shuttle astronauts. He was so self-effacing in his book. He seemed so relatable to the common man. A guy you could just go out and pal around with.

Darn right. I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable first-person books I have ever read of any genre (and I mostly only read first-person historical stuff). I really need to find a good-condition hard cover copy to mail to him for a signature. I really hope to meet the man someday.

Mailed an STS-36 crew photo and 41D patch to him today along with a nice letter of appreciation on how good his book is. Looking forward to getting it all back soon. He really is a class act.

UPDATE: Received all my items signed today in the mail. Mike even wrote a nice note on my letter and sent it back. Quickest turnaround I have ever had! Love the guy. One week exactly.

I finally found a hardback copy of "Riding Rockets" and e-mailed Mike yesterday asking if it was okay to send and if so, where to.

I got a reply back less than 12 hours later, this morning. It wasn't just, 'here's where to send it,' either, he made some comments on some of things I wrote in my short e-mail. He even said to send it to his house. I can't wait to get this to him and get it back. I'm not a big autograph hound, but I LOVED his book and have read it several times (the only first-person book I can say that about).

Of the people I've talked with who have met the man, all had very favorable things to say about him. So far, I'd put him on John Glenn's level for being good to his fans.

I sent him a copy of Riding Rockets for his signature about two years ago. He sent it back to me in about two weeks and inscribed it for my daughters and added a nice note for them. Something we will treasure for years to come. Just a wonderful, class act individual.

I sent Mullane an email and ordered Riding Rockets through his website. He responded to my emails within a few hours and not only answered a question I had but also asked how I wanted to book signed and let me know when he mailed it. I'm hoping to find it in my mail today after work. A very easy and enjoyable purchase.

Received my book yesterday signed not only on the cover to me as requested but also signed on the inside! Already have read portions of it and it really is the most interesting of first hand Astronaut books. If you're looking to get a signed copy I strongly suggest getting it from his website. Couldn't have been better.
