No autopens here - - just fake Armstrong and Collins signatures, IMHO,.....together with the usual super fuzzy scans.

It got the better of me also so your not alone.I had to ask the seller a few questions just to settle my mind.

I have been sus on at least the Collins since he listed the item.

He has now added further images which are slightly better.

Here is a quote from the seller on when and where and how he obtained the autographs.

Quote:

I POSTED SOME OTHER SCANS MAYBE JUST A LITTLE BETTER! I WAS IN HOUSTON AS PART OF A DOCUMENTARY CREW IN LATE 1971. ONE OF THE LOCATIONS WAS NASA AND I WAS PRIVLEDGED TO MEET MANY HIGH RANKING OFFICIALS INCLUDING SOME OF THE ASTRONAUTS. I WAS REALLY IN THE RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME! THE DOCUMENTARY WAS AIRED IN '72 ON CBS AND CONCERNED EXCESS GOVERNMENT [SPENDING] WASTE.

What also concerns me greatly is that the front page autographs have faded and he readily admits this but the overall condition of the paper is almost new even the front page.

I`m no expert but a 30 plus year old paper in my view would have some signs of ageing.Even stored correctly they do discolour to some extent.

As the saying goes "if in doubt" stay away.

Good luck!

As I've been burnt a couple of times with fakes,I now only collect the autographs of astronauts I meet;I take their photo signing the item, then get photographed shaking their hand.I'm happy enough to meet Neil later this month without him signing, and later tell people I met him, rather than say,"No,I never met him,but here's his autograph-I think....."

Good attitude, Derek. When I met Armstrong last month, there was one other guy there with a photo to be signed, who spent the whole time upset and frustrated that Armstrong politely declined to sign. What a waste of an experience - instead of being happy to meet him, he was just incredulous that he didn't want to sign his photo. Waste of a very special opportunity, to my mind.
