Chris Nicolosi was kind enough to allow his post to another list be reprinted here: The National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida has a new R.L. Rasmussen print. Some of you are familiar with his other prints, "Navy to the Moon" and "Naval Aviation in Space." It's a little pricey at $350, but the edition is a small one at 300. Some of you that already have the other Rasmussen prints might want this one for your collections as well. I copied a brief description of the print:Reproductions of an original watercolor by R.L. Rasmussen, these 300 limited-edition prints are signed by all four of the surviving Mercury Seven astronauts: John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra and Gordon Cooper. They are printed on museum quality paper and measure 21" W x 29 1/4" H." |

This signed print is still available for purchase at the National Naval Aviation Museum's Flight Deck Store. Price has been raised to $500, but that is actually cheaper than one sold for at auction last year. |

Then I got a deal. Picked this print up from the museum store about 4 years ago. Could not believe my eyes when it was on sale for $150. Autographs signed in clearly in pencil. I think the ones one sale now at the museum store are proofs. |

They are an artist proof, but does not state if the signatures are real or prints. Suppose I could ask them the next time I am in the store. |

I would call the museum about the proofs to check if the are hand signed. They should be able to tell you. I have number 164/300. I had the feeling they were sitting on these prints for some time without them moving. Mine is framed but I still have the packing tube with the slip attached. Fours years ago it sold for $150 plus shipping. It was a steal. The signatures are in pencil, crisp and clear. I was going to get another a few months later but they were gone and just the artist proofs were left. |
