How is Shannon Lucid for signing stuff? I would like to get something from her for my collection if possible. |

Dr. Lucid was here in Hawaii two weeks ago for a science fair at UH Hilo. I met her at the Ellison Onizuka Space Center in Kona at a Challenger Memorial event. She is an exceptional person, very kind and real good with all the kids that I took to see her. She had no problem signing photos. Two of the folks here on collectSPACE were kind enough to email me four different shots; portrait, STS-76 return at either sunset or sunrise, a nice shot of Mir with the earth behind, and a Columbia liftoff, of which I made multiple copies that she signed. I gave all the extras to the local kids and sent some to the collectSPACE guy that sent me the photos (thanks again). |

I would just wait a few weeks. She will serve as capcom during STS-109, and right afterwards she will move to Washington to serve as the new Chief Scientist of NASA. In other words: there is plenty of chance your mail gets lost. Better wait until the early summer. |

My experience with her was very positive. She promptly responded to my request. Her photo is definitely a valuable addition to my collection. |

I was wondering if anybody had any information on Shannon Lucid's signing habits? How long did it take to get your request back from her? Does she send out signed photos? Any information anybody can provide is greatly appreciated. |

I've tried twice over the last couple of years with no luck. Once at Johnson Space Center and once at NASA HQ in Washington. |

I must have got lucky, last year she responded to a letter I sent to her at DC (just before she went back to JSC) with an autographed photo of her current portrait. I did however send her a photo to JSC early this year with no return of the item yet. |

I'm looking at a small group of shuttle astronaut autographs that I've been offered. I am researching them and I see that Shannon Lucid autographs seem to be much more highly priced than most shuttle astronauts' autographs. Does she no longer sign? Or? |

Maybe the name recognition, maybe because she doesn't do that many public appearances (at least, none that I'm aware of the past few years, at least compared to other astronauts when they were active). But she signs. My Mir photo, underneath Linenger's signature and between Lawrence and Dunbar, signed earlier this month. |

I didn't; a friend got her at the XXIX ASE Planetary Conference in Vienna earlier this month. |
