On March 5, 1968, the crewmembers of the Apollo 'E type' mission participated in a crew compartment stowage review at the Grumman plant for LM-4, which they were to fly to a high-elliptical orbit later that year. The vehicle used in the test was LM Test Article 1 (LTA-1), configured to resemble the LM-4 flight vehicle. Pictured preparing to enter LTA-1 is support crewmember Jerry Carr, who died August 26, 2020.

All of the Apollo astronauts worked so hard, even if they didn't get a flight to the moon. But getting to spend 84 days in orbit is a pretty good deal too.

All times are CT (US)
