In April 1981, I snapped this photo of Space Shuttle Columbia at Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A, waiting to begin a new era with the launch of STS-1. Almost 40 years later another new spacecraft is ready to make history. Good luck Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken!

Good luck to Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken! Does anyone know the rules for what personal items they can carry with them? This is exciting!!!

The rules are pretty much the same as on Soyuz (or eventually) Starliner. They can take a few small items with them. Doug Hurley described it as follows:
We don't typically fly a lot of personal items in space. I have taken a couple of things for my son. We get a small allotment on board the vehicle.

All times are CT (US)
