Half a century ago this week, the Saturn 5 carrying Apollo 12 arrived at Launch Pad 39A after a 3.5 mile trip from the Vehicle Assembly Building. The crawler-transporter carried the 12.8 million pound vehicle (CSM-108, LM-6, Saturn-507) at a rate of one mile per hour.

Hmm... those puffy clouds look beautiful now. Come November there might be lightning on the horizon!

Love that image with the huge liquid hydrogen storage tank in the foreground. Seem to recall that at least with the shuttle stack the transporter moved at just 1/2 a mile per hour.
