Half a century ago this week, Apollo 10 was launched from Kennedy Space Center's Pad 39B to pave the way for the first lunar landing in July. The bend in the crawlerway is where it would lead to Pad C as originally planned. There were even contingency plans for a Pad D. |

An unusual shot (one that I don't recall having seen before!). Thanks! As for the C and D pads, that's a space program I would like to have seen.

The crawlerway looks pretty rough after the turn. |

Is that small section at the turn still there? |

Easy enough to check on Google Earth...And, yes it is, although it a sorry state of repair. |

Actually, isn't the bend where 39A was to have gone, and when that wasn't built, the pads were relettered? |
